At the airport, you will be greeted by our Suranga Tours representative and your chauffeur guide, who will take you comfortably to the old city of Sigiriya. After arriving at the hotel, rest and relax to recover from any jet lag. If you have spare time or feel comfortable, walk around the farming village and enjoy the peaceful beauty of glorious Sigiriya. Overnight Sigiriya

After breakfast, visit the world-famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress. The Sigiriya fortress is a man-made historical wonder of Asia as well as an amazing archaeological region. This fortress, which was built by the great “King Kashyapa” in the 5th century AD, reveals the dignity, pride, and creativity, as well as the historical and cultural development of ancient Sri Lanka. This fortress was built by using t r a d i t i o n a l m i r a c u l o u s architectural techniques to suit the environment. Its utilisation of forests, boulders, and water moats attracts local and foreign visitors. The plan of the royal city, horticulture, irrigation technology, Sinhalese literature, paintings done by using natural raw materials and inscriptions are world-astonished attractions.

After learning about the region’s history, traditions, and architecture, our next visit was to the highly attractive and most visited Minneriya National Park. Circling the beautiful Minneriya tank, the green surroundings are strikingly different from the arid landscape. Being part of the elephant corridor which joins up with Kaudulla and Wasgamuwa, you are sure to see elephants. During the months of August and September, one of the most awesome wildlife spectacles, “THE GATHERING,” ranked sixth in the Lonely Planet’s ten greatest wildlife spectacles, takes place. Over 300 elephants converge to enjoy the tank with the receding water level to play and make merry. A variety of bird life could be spotted, including some endemic to Sri Lanka.

After a full day out, we will head back to the hotel, well and truly satisfied. Evening at leisure. Overnight Sigiriya

Day 03.

Kandy

  • Highlight : The Royal Rock Cave temple Dambulla, Herbal & Spice Garden, Kandy Cultural Dance Performance, The temple of the Tooth Relic

After breakfast, today we proceed to the island’s heart of royal city Kandy,visiting Dambulla royal rock cave temple and herbal and spice garden en route. Lying beneath the vast dark rock of Dambulla is the largest and best – preserved Buddhist cave – temple and monastery complex in Sri Lanka dating to the 3rd century BC. This extensive complex has five cave sanctuaries and all of its ceilings and sides painted with Buddhist murals that cover an area of 2100 square metres, tha elaborate imagery carefully following the contours of the rock. In addition there are a total 157 statues in various sizes depicting Lord Buddha, Bodhisattvas and images of different gods and goddesses.This amazing complex which has served as a site of Buddhist pilgrimage for over 22 centuries was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site 1991.

After the royal cave temple, our next visit is for the Herbal and Spice garden. Here you will learn about Srilankan Spices and Health properties of herbs. Spices include cocoa, vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, coriander, coffee, nutmeg, pepper, cardamon, aloevera, iriweriya, and the henna plant. Spending wonderful time at the herbal garden, afterwards, the journey continues to Kandy. Evening witness a Kandy dance performance and visit the temple of the Sacred tooth Relic of Buddha.Overnight Kandy.

Day 04.

Kandy

After breakfast, a morning visit to the world-famous royal botanical garden to learn about the diversity of endemic, indigenous, and exotic plants in the garden is included. Afterwards, visit the Kandy view point and enjoy the panoramic city view from Kandy lake above. Later, continue your Kandy shopping by visiting GEM & JEWELLERY, BATIK & SILK, LEATHER, SILVER & GOLD, WOOD CRAFT, and beautiful HANDICRAFT factories. Evening at leisure. Overnight Kandy.

Day 05.

Nuwara eliya

Today’s journey to the TEA carpeted beautiful Nuwara Eliya. After breakfast, proceed to Nuwara Eliya, visiting the tea factory and the breathtaking Ramboda Falls en route. In a tea factory, you will learn about the quality of the tea and the process. While you learn about the tea process, tasting the best cup of tea is fantastic. After the tea factory, we will stop off at the beautiful Ramboda Waterfalls and enjoy the breathtaking landscape view surrounding it. Thereafter, the journey continues through the tea-capped hills to Nuwara Eliya. Once in Nuwara Eliya, spend the rest of your day exploring this great city. Evening at leisure. Day 06.

Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast in the morning, visit the highly attractive Horton Plains national park. better known as “Maha Eliya Thenna,” or “the Great Open Plain” in local parlance.The Horton Plains National Park is a vast protected plateau in the central highlands of Sri Lanka covered by montane grassland and cloud forest and is home to numerous species of plants, birds, and animals, including the endangered slender loris. Located at an altitude of between 2,103 and 2,286 metres and covering some 3,160 hectares, the Horton Plains are considered Sri Lanka’s most important watershed, with the headwaters of three major rivers, the Mahaweli, Kelani, and Walawe, located here. The sheer precipice of World’s End and Baker’s Falls are among the tourist attractions of the park. In July 2010, the Horton Plains and the nearby peak wilderness sanctuary were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Ella

After breakfast, spend more laid-back hours in this beautiful city. In the early afternoon, transfer to the Nanu Oya Railway Station and board the Ella train (12:45). Day 08.

Ella

A sleepy village a decade ago. Ella is a small town that now attracts large numbers of foreign visitors. The main attraction is the stunning view through a narrow cleft in the hills known as the Ella Gap. The “Little Adam’s Peak” and the “Nine Arch Bridge” are highly famous among world travellers.

Wake up early and enjoy the fantastic mountain views all around you. After having a lovely breakfast, visit the highly attractive Nine Arch Bridge and the breath-taking Little Adam’s Peak. If you have spare time, walk to Ella Rock and soak up the panoramic mountain scenery all around you. After building up an appetite for hiking-inspired cuisine, look forward to Sri Lanka’s best home-cooked food and the minisplurge of an extended Ayurvedic treatment. Overnight Ella

Day 09.

Thangalla

After breakfast, proceed to beautiful Tangalle via Tissamaharama-Tangalle A18 Road. Once in Tangalle, spend your day resting and relaxing at Tangalle beach. In the evening, join us for the included turtle viewing tour and enjoy seeing baby turtles flapping across the sand towards the sea. Overnight Tangalle

NOTE-1:

During turtle viewing tours, loud noises and bright lights were not permitted.

Visitors are allowed to take a RED TORCH and take photos without flash photography.

Day 10.

Mirissa

There are no activities planned today, so laze on the beach with your favourite books, and taste a refreshing king coconut while your beach adventure. Later, in the evening visit the Srilanka’s highly famous instagrammable spots of COCONUT TREE HILLS, enjoy the best views in the area and stunning sunset. Overnight Mirissa.

Day 11.

Mirissa

Fill-up on your early breakfast, be ready on time, and set off on a boat to see the magnificent creatures up close and personal. Mirissa is the ideal place for whale and dolphin watching between the months of November and April, as the waters become a playground for a myriad of whale and dolphin species. The chances of spotting whales during November to April are 98%. You might be able to spot blue whales, the world’s largest living mammal. You may also see massive Bryde’s whales, long sperm whales with their calves, spearlike fin whales, and the intimidating orca, or killer whales, and dolphins. It is an unforgettable experience and a must-see once in a lifetime. After your wonderful and exciting boat experience, spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing. Day 12.

Mirissa

A full day at leisure to explore the unseen parts of Mirissa. Whatever you do, take the day to get lost, you are free until evening. Evening visit the highly attractive STILT FISHERMEN and capture the scenic picture of  the stilt fishermen,when the sun goes down and dusk. Overnight Mirissa.

Day 13.

Negombo

  • Highlight : The Dutch Fort of Galle

After breakfast, proceed to Negombo, which was your last destination during your Sri Lankan stay. En route, we will stop off at the highly picturesque and world-famous Galle Fort. In the 18th century, the Dutch built their headquarters, Galle Fort, on the Srilankan coast. Nowadays, the old, beautiful buildings are being transformed into trendy shops, cafes, and restaurants. UNESCO named Galle Fort a World Heritage Site, so the beauty of the buildings is being preserved for shopping, exploring the history, or sunsets at the fort’s wall. You could spend an entire day exploring Galle Fort. Wandering around some of the narrow streets of Galle Fort makes you forget that you are in Sri Lanka. It looks like you are in a European city instead (Church St, Queens St, Hospital Road). Sunset is the time that locals gather to see the sun disappearing into the sea. It’s beautiful scenery with so many different religions having fun together.

After your visit to Galle Fort, proceed to Negombo and spend the evening strolling around ticking off the likes of Negombo. 

 

Day 14.

Negombo

“NEGOMBO”

Negombo is a modest beach town 10km from Bandaranaike International Airport. Sometimes known as “Little Rome,” The Dutch captured the town from the Portuguese in 1640. The British then took it from them in 1796. Negombo was one of the most important sources of cinnamon during the Dutch era, and there are still reminders of the European days.

A full day at leisure to explore the unseen parts of the city, do some last minute shopping, etc. Later, maybe you’ll join an optional excursion to complete your day. Tonight we will enjoy a farewell dinner, reminiscing over the iconic and unexpected highlights of your trip. Overnight Negombo
